EU AI Act (data and testing requirements)

Definition

The EU AI Act is the European Union's regulation for artificial intelligence, which sets obligations by risk level, including requirements around data quality, documentation and testing for higher-risk AI systems.

The Act classifies AI systems by risk. Higher-risk systems carry obligations that touch the data and evaluation directly: appropriate data governance, documentation of how the system was built and tested, and record-keeping that can be shown to authorities.

In practice this pushes organisations to be able to show how their training and evaluation data was produced and tested, not just to assert that it is good. Provenance, documented evaluation and adversarial testing all become evidence rather than optional extras.

This summary is general information about the regulation's direction, not legal advice. Specific obligations depend on the system, its risk class and how it is used.

How Pathwize relates

Pathwize is EU-native, with data kept in the EU and a documented, auditable record of how each expert judgment was produced, which is the kind of evidence higher-risk obligations ask for.
